Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Estimated?

I'd like to know some good estimated prophets.

Personally I like the 2/26/77 and the 4/23/77 and 4/26/77.
Keith is really into it for the 2/26 show and the 23 and 26 shows have amazing bridge solos.

No one mentions Cornell 5/8/77? I'm not one of those who believe that this is the greatest Grateful Dead show ever played but this Estimated should get a mention here at least..

The one on the View From The Vault III DVD from 6/16/90 is incredible too.

Chills down my spine. Thank you all!

PS: Forgot to add the Cornell version to my current top ones.
Should give that show a whirl.

After listening to Dekalb 10/29/77 again I must admit it blows Cornell away. I withdraw my Cornell Estimated Prophet rec. The 10/29/77 show is on my top 10 list of greatest shows by the Grateful Dead and this Charlie Miller remaster is pure gold.

Two amazing versions on commercial releases:

11-2-77 on DP34
10-16-77 on the RT 1/2 bonus disc

Thank you, Cliff....I was trying like hell not to have to bloviate yet AGAIN about my favorite show. Good man.

This Estimated oughta be in any Top 10 discussion...fans of Jerry's Wah-Wah pedal should take particular interest. and don't even get me started on the EYES that follows.

10 bonus points for using "bloviate" in a post.

Also like the Estimated that follows the supersonic Eyes at the Colgate 77 show 11/4/77.

The aud is pretty good but I would go with the latest CM transfer that Cliff posted.

You are 100% correct, the sbd is the way to go. If you must dl to play in the car the AUD is not too bad - 3.5 to 4 star possibly.

06-09-1977

04-19-1982 is not only a great version but they pull off the extremely rare estimated middle jam reprise...do check it out...

09-22-1993 is pretty fucking good with David Murray on saxamaphone...

I really liked how in the later years they started to elongate the bridge. That reprise is a pleasant surprise!
